ردیابی مقاوم در گیرنده­ها به صورت توانایی یک گیرنده در دنبال کردن فاز و فرکانس سیگنال حامل ورودی در شرایط غیر معمول همچون تضعیف سیگنال، محو سیگنال ورودی، دینامیک­ بالای گیرنده یا دیگر اثرات مخرب انتشار تعریف می­شود. غلبه بر محو سیگنال حامل ورودی، عموماً منجر به ساختارهایی می­شود که با پهنای باند بسیار باریک فیلتر درون حلقه قفل فاز قابل پیاده­سازی است ولی با ملزومات ردیابی برای کاربران دارای دینامیک یا سرعت حرکت بالا در تضاد است. چنین تناقضی نقطه بحرانی و محدودیت اساسی سیستم های ردیابی مقاوم سیگنال حامل است، زیرا حذف نویز (یا بازیابی سیگنال­های با توان ضعیف) و ردیابی سریع سیگنال حامل فرستنده باید به صورت متناسب با هم موازنه شوند. در عمل لازم است با توجه به میزان نویز محیط و میزان دینامیک ورودی، مقدار مناسب برای پهنای باند فیلتر حلقه انتخاب شود. در این مقاله ابتدا روش­های ردیابی مقاوم حامل بررسی و مرور می­شوند و از نظر کاربرد و ویژگی ها مورد بررسی قرار خواهند گرفت. با مقایسه روش­های مختلف نشان خواهیم داد که کنترل کننده های فازی-عصبی نوع دوم پیشنهادی به دلیل غلبه بر عدم قطعیت های موجود در سیگنال حامل دریافتی و شرایط محیطی، نتایج مطلوبی را برای اغلب کاربردها ارایه می نماید.
